Hyunsu Jung is the Chief Executive Officer of Hyperion DeFi, Inc. (NASDAQ: HYPD), the first Nasdaq-listed company focused on developing a strategic treasury of HYPE, the native token of the Hyperliquid blockchain. Previously, he served as the Chief Investment Officer of Hyperion DeFi and was a Portfolio Manager at DARMA Capital, a $1 billion+ asset manager registered with the CFTC and NFA.
Hyunsu Jung began his career as a Consultant at EY-Parthenon, where he led finance and digital transformation workstreams for major enterprise M&A deals. His experience in strategic consulting informed his understanding of financial structuring and digital innovation.
At DARMA Capital, Jung held the position of Portfolio Manager. His role there involved designing and deploying digital asset strategies that focused on new scalable, revenue-generating approaches, including optimizing on-chain utility across assets such as Ethereum and Filecoin, with a focus on scalable, revenue-generating strategies.
Hyunsu Jung joined Hyperion DeFi in June 2025 as Chief Investment Officer and was involved in the company's strategic shift. At the time of his joining, Hyperion DeFi closed a $50 million private placement and established a cryptocurrency treasury reserve focused on acquiring more than 1.5 million HYPE tokens.
Hyperion DeFi was originally known as Eyenovia, Inc., a digital ophthalmic technology company. The rebranding to Hyperion DeFi reflects the company's pivot toward decentralized finance and blockchain-based financial products and services.
In January 2026, Jung was appointed as the CEO of Hyperion DeFi, effective January 5, 2026. The company described the leadership change as "an important milestone in the Company's leadership evolution." On his appointment, Jung said: "Our focus is on building a leading Hyperliquid-native DeFi company that supports global adoption, monetizes growth through disciplined on-chain strategies, and provides shareholders with meaningful exposure to the expansion of the Hyperliquid ecosystem."
Hyperion DeFi describes itself as the first U.S. public company to develop directly on the Hyperliquid blockchain, with HYPE tokens playing a central role in its operations. The company utilizes HYPE for multiple purposes: fee reduction on the Hyperliquid exchange, launching real-world asset perpetual markets via HIP-3, and using HYPE as collateral or gas for on-chain smart contracts. Jung contrasted this with Bitcoin, which he described as offering more limited yield-generating utility, characterizing it as "digital gold."
Per the company, more than 37 million HYPE tokens had been purchased and sequestered on the Hyperliquid blockchain via trading fees generated on the network, as of a January 2026 snapshot.
Hyunsu Jung has participated in industry panels and partnerships related to digital asset treasuries and institutional Hyperliquid activity. Hyperion announced a co-branded validator partnership with Kinetiq to expand institutional Hyperliquid staking infrastructure.
Jung has discussed Hyperion DeFi's strategy and the Hyperliquid ecosystem in media interviews and industry panel appearances.
Jung continues to lead Hyperion DeFi as CEO, overseeing its Hyperliquid-focused treasury and product strategy.
