Interviews
Market Cap
In a March 2026 interview with Alea Research, Fong discussed his transition from traditional finance into crypto and his perspective on the evolution of digital asset markets. He described GSR’s development from a small trading firm into a broader crypto financial services company spanning market making, OTC trading, venture capital, treasury management, and advisory services, emphasizing trust, regulation, and long-term relationships. Fong also discussed the maturation of crypto markets, growing institutional participation, real-world assets, and the need for diversification as the industry develops. He characterized GSR’s approach as modular and adaptable, allowing the firm to respond to changing market conditions while maintaining a long-term focus on supporting clients and founders. [5]
APAC Institutional Crypto
In a January 2026 episode of LTP’s Clearing Spotlight podcast, Chuan Jin Fong discussed GSR’s role as a regulated crypto market maker and its approach to institutional liquidity in the Asia-Pacific region. He examined the firm’s OTC business, the development of institutional trading, and the importance of regulated venues, KYC/AML procedures, risk controls, and asset security in the wake of failures such as FTX. Fong also discussed differences in regulatory approaches across Asia and emerging markets in the Middle East, along with the potential for real-world assets, tokenization, and institutional asset management to expand within crypto. He encouraged traditional financial institutions to engage with the sector as regulatory frameworks mature and crypto develops into a broader asset class. [1]
