Tori trUSD (TRUSD) is a synthetic dollar stablecoin issued by Tori Finance, designed to track the value of the United States dollar while being backed by market-neutral trading positions rather than fiat currency held in bank accounts.[1] It forms the base asset of the Tori Finance protocol, which describes itself as a synthetic dollar protocol that brings institutional-grade, market-neutral strategies on-chain.[2] The token is an ERC-20 contract deployed on Ethereum Mainnet, and its issuer is associated with the X account @tori_finance, which describes the project as "Institutional yield, on-chain" and states that it is backed by Delphi Ventures.[3]
Unlike fiat-backed stablecoins such as USDC or USDT, which hold cash and cash equivalents in reserve, trUSD is a synthetic dollar whose backing derives from delta-neutral trading positions maintained by the protocol.[1] Tori Finance frames trUSD as a means of exposing ordinary Web3 users to institutional strategies that, it states, have historically required accredited-investor status, minimum investments of one million dollars or more, and complex fund structures.[2] The token is categorized as a USD stablecoin and synthetic dollar, and it trades primarily on decentralized venues.[4]

trUSD implements the ERC-20 standard, uses 18 decimals, and is deployed with Ethereum Mainnet as its primary network.[1] The contract is upgradeable via a proxy, an architecture confirmed both by Tori's documentation and by a third-party advisory. CoinGecko displays a warning sourced from GoPlus stating that the contract is a proxy contract whose owner "can make code changes to the token contract including but not limited to disabling sells, changing fees, minting, transferring tokens etc.," and advising caution.[4][1] The available documentation does not specify who holds the admin or upgrade authority over this proxy. The token's contract address on Ethereum is 0xd0580192e98ea6ceb9c7b6191ed2e27560911697.[4]
The core of Tori's design is the concept of delta-neutrality, which the documentation explains as removing directional exposure to market movements so that the backing value does not depend on whether crypto prices rise or fall.[1] Returns are described as arising from pricing opportunities rather than directional bets, with long and short positions structured to offset one another. The documentation offers a simplified illustration: buying one asset while simultaneously shorting an equivalent amount of a second asset, so that gains and losses cancel if both assets move together, producing a profit if the price difference between them narrows.[1] Tori states that its actual strategies are more sophisticated but follow the same principle.[2]
There are two primary ways to acquire trUSD. One is to swap into trUSD through the Tori application, exchanging supported stablecoins such as USDC or USDT without completing identity verification, with the documentation stating that there is no minimum size requirement for these swaps.[1] The other is to mint trUSD directly from the protocol at net asset value (NAV), a route available only to participants who complete Know Your Customer and Anti-Money Laundering (KYC/AML) verification; verified users can mint at NAV for a fee of 10 basis points, or 0.1 percent, a path Tori describes as providing direct NAV access, avoiding market spread or slippage, and supporting larger transaction sizes.[1] Users can stake trUSD to receive the yield-bearing token strUSD, and to exit a staked position they must first unstake strUSD; the documentation states that unstaking strUSD triggers a seven-day cooldown period, after which the resulting trUSD can be swapped back into USDC or USDT, a mechanism Tori describes as serving liquidity management.[2]
trUSD is designed to trade close to $1.00, with the peg maintained through arbitrage incentives and liquidity. When trUSD trades above $1.00, verified participants can mint the token at NAV and sell it on the open market, increasing supply and pushing the price down toward parity. When it trades below $1.00, participants can buy the token on the market and redeem it at NAV, reducing supply and pushing the price up.[1] The documentation cautions that the market price may fluctuate and is not guaranteed to always equal $1.00, and states that deep liquidity in trUSD trading pairs minimizes deviations and enables efficient arbitrage.[1]
Although Ethereum Mainnet is the canonical network, trUSD has native multi-chain support through Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), using the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard.[1] The design uses native bridging that moves the token across chains through CCIP token pools without creating wrapped tokens: Ethereum holds the canonical supply behind a Lock and Release pool, while each new chain uses a Burn and Mint pool, keeping a single unified supply across all networks.[1] Tori states that support is planned for major EVM-compatible chains and that CCIP secures transfers through a decentralized oracle network, an independent Risk Management Network, and per-lane rate limits it describes as "defense-in-depth."[1]
The Tori Finance X account was created in June 2025, and public product activity accelerated through mid-2026.[3] On 27 July 2026, Tori announced the launch of strUSD, describing it as "a yield-bearing token backed by institutional delta-neutral strategies," advertising a 12 percent APY (marked with an asterisk), presenting it as "uncorrelated with crypto," and framing it as bringing strategies "that required eight-figure minimums, now on-chain," alongside "day-one DeFi integrations."[3][4]
In August 2026 the protocol described several integrations with other DeFi platforms. On 11 August, Tori stated that PT-trUSD and PT-strUSD — the principal-token forms of its assets on the yield-trading platform Pendle — were among the leading looping markets there, and described looping strategies in which these tokens are used as collateral in Tori markets on the lending protocol Morpho curated by RockawayX.[3] On 18 August, Tori promoted an Ecosystem Vault on Morpho, also curated by RockawayX, into which users supply USDC to earn a lending rate paid in USDC plus a "10x Cores boost," while remaining in USDC rather than holding trUSD or strUSD or taking on the underlying strategy.[3]
Also on 18 August, following the exploitation of a separate protocol, Term Finance, Tori stated that it was not affected, asserting that "trUSD and strUSD had zero exposure, Ecosystem Vault participants are fully covered, and all operations continue as normal," and advising that no action was required from users.[3] On 21 August, Tori stated that its institutional delta-neutral strategies had distributed a total of $500,000 in rewards to users.[3] These figures and assertions are reported by Tori Finance on its own account.[2]
Tori Finance's product set has two tiers. The base layer is trUSD itself, which Tori Finance markets as fully backed, audited, and swappable at any time. The second is strUSD, a reward-bearing token created when a user stakes trUSD.[2] Conversion from trUSD to strUSD occurs in a single transaction, after which strUSD accumulates rewards automatically; Tori states that "the exchange rate between strUSD and trUSD increases over time as rewards are generated," meaning that holders benefit from an appreciating exchange rate rather than from distributed tokens.[2] The primary use cases for the base token are staking for rewards, DeFi integration, and holding as a store of value; the documentation notes that unstaked trUSD does not earn rewards.[1]
The rewards distributed to strUSD holders come from capital that Tori states it deploys across multiple market-neutral approaches in markets worldwide. The documented strategy categories are short-duration instruments in select global markets — described as typically the largest allocation and as providing access to institutional money-market rates not usually available to retail participants; capturing price differences between spot and futures markets, where futures trading at a premium to spot allow the spread to be captured; and trading mispricing between different contract expiry dates, arbitraging near-term against far-term contracts.[2] Tori's marketing materials describe these as "institutional-grade algorithmic trading strategies" spanning markets "from New York to Tokyo," citing high-yield money markets and futures arbitrage as examples.[5]
Tori positions its approach against other on-chain yield categories, listing limitations for each. It states that Treasury-bill wrappers tokenize government bonds but cap returns at roughly 4 percent and often require KYC; that basis-trade protocols capture funding rates from perpetual markets but produce highly variable yields of 4 to 6 percent that can turn negative and carry concentrated crypto exposure; that credit protocols lend to borrowers but face high default risk and illiquidity during stress; and that high-yield stablecoins often carry significant drawdown risk or complexity.[2] At the time of the referenced material, the protocol advertised a "Current APY" of 11.2 percent, presented with an asterisk, and stated that it targeted "the highest delta-neutral APY in the market."[5] Its website also compares its rate against reference sources it names as Aave, Ethena, T-bills, and Tori itself, stating that each rate is fetched from its own source with the date it holds.[5] These performance figures are self-reported by Tori and are not independently verified.
Tori also describes strUSD as a liquid ERC-20 token usable as collateral in lending protocols, as liquidity in DEX pools, transferable between wallets, and integrable into other DeFi applications. However, the documentation notes that "DeFi integrations are currently in development," a status described as of August 2026.[2][1]
Tori Finance publishes a set of security and transparency claims centered on independent attestation and third-party auditing. It names Accountable as its Proof of Reserves provider, describing it as delivering real-time, independent attestations that anyone can verify, and states that all reserve data is independently verifiable at any time.[2] Its website presents a "100% Collateral Ratio" and "Real-Time Proof of Reserves," though the total backing assets and total value locked are shown as "N/A."[5]
Smart-contract audits are attributed to Sherlock and Nethermind, described as comprehensive full security audits, with the security context stating that these auditors protect "over $50B in assets across Web3."[1][5] Ongoing protection is provided by Hypernative together with an internal team, described as AI-powered 24/7 threat detection and surveillance, and Tori runs a bug-bounty program with a stated maximum bounty of $1 million.[2][5] On custody, Tori states that on-chain assets are held in audited smart contracts with multi-signature controls, while off-chain assets are held with qualified institutional custodians in segregated accounts, and that it works only with established, reputable counterparties.[1] The documentation acknowledges that, like all DeFi products, Tori involves risk and advises users to review its risk disclosures.[2] All of these figures and assertions are presented as claims by Tori and are not independently verified in the source materials.
trUSD has no fixed maximum supply, listed as infinite, consistent with a mint-and-redeem stablecoin model in which supply expands and contracts through issuance and redemption. As of August 2026, its circulating and total supply were each reported at 65,508,000 tokens.[4] According to Token Terminal, it had recorded a cumulative transfer volume of $231.4 million over the period tracked, with 420 holders as of August 2026, all on a single chain.[6]
Trading in trUSD is concentrated on the automated market maker Curve on Ethereum, which CoinGecko identifies as the most popular venue for the token. The most active market is the TRUSD/USDC pair on Curve, alongside pools pairing the token with its staked counterpart, STRUSD, and with FRXUSD.[4] As an ERC-20 asset, trUSD is compatible with standard Ethereum wallets that support ERC-20 tokens.[4]
