Ran Hammer is an Israeli entrepreneur and former corporate lawyer. He currently serves as Chief Business Officer at Orbs. ^[2]​

Early Life and Education

Ran Hammer earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Haifa, attending from 2009 to 2013. ^[2] He served as a Legal Research Assistant and a Teaching Assistant at the University of Haifa, Faculty of Law. ^[2]​

Early Career

Before entering law, Hammer worked in sales, including roles at Hammer (a WCS software provider) and at Rikushet. ^[2]​

Legal Career

Ran Hammer worked as an associate at GKH Law Offices (Gross, Kleinhendler, Hodak, Halevy, Greenberg & Co.) in the Hi-Tech and Venture Capital Practice Group for approximately five years. ^[2] He represented private equity and venture capital funds, strategic and individual investors, and technology-based companies. ^[2] At GKH, he founded and led the blockchain, cryptocurrency, and digital coin practice and was described in sources as one of Israel's leading blockchain law practitioners. ^[2]​

Career at Orbs

Hammer joined Orbs and held multiple roles over time, including Vice President of Business Development, General Counsel and Corporate Development, and General Counsel, before becoming Chief Business Officer. ^[2]​^[1] In his current role, he oversees business development, marketing, community relations, and legal and compliance functions at Orbs. ^[2]​

Contributions to Crypto and Web3

Hammer has been a frequent interview subject on DeFi and regulatory topics. In an April 2024 interview with Bitcoin.com News, he argued that DeFi's future depends on liquidity aggregation, identifying market fragmentation as the primary obstacle preventing DeFi protocols from competing with centralized exchanges. ^[3] In two 2024–2025 interviews with HackerNoon, he discussed how regulatory ambiguity has created a "chilling effect" on capital entering DeFi, and described Orbs' engagement in seminars and roundtable discussions with regulators in Israel, the United States, and the United Kingdom. ^[4]​^[5] Under his purview, Orbs made a $600,000 investment in THENA, a decentralized exchange on BNB Chain, and formed a validator-node collaboration with Animoca Japan. ^[6]​
