Patrick Horsman, CFA is an American entrepreneur and investor. He is known for founding and co-founding ventures across alternative investments, financial technology, thematic exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and decentralized finance (DeFi). His investment philosophy centers on identifying and investing in highly specialized, focused opportunities that possess a sustainable competitive advantage.[1] [2]
Patrick Horsman earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management, concentrating in finance, accounting, and entrepreneurship, graduating magna cum laude between 1998 and 2002. He subsequently completed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program through the CFA Institute from 2003 to 2006. In 2002, he obtained FINRA securities licenses, including Series 7, 24, and 66. He completed his secondary education at Desert Mountain between 1995 and 1998. [2]
Patrick Horsman’s career spans investment management, entrepreneurship, and advisory roles across alternative assets, digital assets, agriculture, and financial services. He is the founder and managing partner of Horsman Holdings LLC, established in 2008 as a single-family office overseeing diversified investments across hedge funds, private equity, real assets, venture capital, and digital assets. He is also a managing partner of Octopus Investments, an investment platform formed in 2019 to structure and seed alternative asset management businesses.
Horsman has founded and co-founded multiple firms, including Innovation Shares, a thematic exchange-traded fund sponsor; Integrated Ag LP, an agricultural investment firm focused on crop production and risk-managed commodities; Cashmere Capital, a private equity firm centered on brands and intellectual property; and Verified Organic, a blockchain-based traceability platform for agricultural supply chains. He also founded Paradiso College Preparatory, a charter management organization operating in Puerto Rico.
In parallel, Horsman has held senior leadership roles in asset management and capital markets. He served as co-founder and chief operating officer of Merion Investment Management, an event-driven hedge fund manager, and as co-founder and managing partner of Blue Sand Securities, an alternative investment placement firm. Earlier ventures include Cypress Settlements, later acquired by Financial Recovery Technologies, and Social Media Investment Management, focused on pre-IPO investments.
More recently, Horsman was appointed Chief Investment Officer of BNB Plus, where he oversees management of a digital asset treasury strategy. In addition to executive roles, he has served on the boards of several companies and industry organizations, including Coral Capital (prior to its acquisition), Context Summits, Safe Shepherd, and professional and investor networks.
