Amy Oldenburg has a robust academic background that underpins her career in finance. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in finance from Fordham University. From 1999 to 2001, Amy Oldenburg worked in Business Development at Arc Worldwide, formerly known as NOVO/Blue Marble, which served as the basis for later work with digital assets.
Morgan Stanley
Oldenburg joined Morgan Stanley in 2001 and subsequently held positions spanning emerging markets, trading, portfolio management, product development, and strategic acquisitions.
From February 2001 to January 2003, she worked in Emerging Markets Portfolio Manager Reporting. Between January 2003 and May 2005, she was part of the Product Development and Strategic Acquisitions Group. From 2005 to 2008, she worked as an Emerging Markets Equity & FX Trader.
From February 2008 to April 2013, Oldenburg served as an Emerging Markets Equity Client Portfolio Manager at Morgan Stanley Investment Management. She then served as COO of Emerging Markets Equity from April 2013 to November 2021.
From November 2021 to January 2026, Oldenburg was Head of Emerging Markets Equity at Morgan Stanley Investment Management. The group operated a multi-strategy emerging markets platform with investment teams located in New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Riyadh, and Mumbai. During this period, she also served on the MSIM Operating Committee.
In January 2026, Morgan Stanley established the position of Head of Digital Asset Strategy and appointed Oldenburg to the role. She has served in the position since February 2026, with responsibility for digital asset strategy and execution across the firm's divisions.
Her responsibilities include work related to Morgan Stanley's digital asset services, including cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds and a digital wallet. In early 2026, the firm filed for spot Bitcoin and Solana ETFs and announced plans for a digital wallet.
Oldenburg has also worked on the integration of Morgan Stanley's infrastructure with blockchain and digital asset systems, including digital cash settlement and tokenization. Her work in this area includes approaches for providing clients with access to digital asset products.
